Payment during Canada Post Strike

Updated November 15, 2024

If you’re a claimant or provider, here’s what you need to know about payment options during the Canada Post strike.

We strongly urge all workers, providers and vendors to sign up for direct deposit. To sign up, fill out the Direct Deposit Authorization form available on our website and send it back to us.

For Claimants

Local Claimants (Whitehorse Area)
If you’re in the local area, your cheque will be held at our office for pick-up.

Non-Local Claimants
If you’re outside the local area and have a payment coming to you, your claim manager will contact you to either:
  • gather your banking details for direct deposit; or
  • hold the cheque until the strike is over.

For Providers and Vendors

Local Providers and Vendors (Whitehorse Area)
Cheques will be held at our office for one week.
If the strike continues beyond one week, we can arrange for you to pick up your cheque.

Non-Local Providers and Vendors
Cheques will be held for one week to see if the strike ends. If it continues longer, we’ll reach out to you. You can then choose to:
  • sign up for direct deposit; or
  • wait for your payment until the strike is over.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us. We appreciate your patience during this time.
