Reducing barriers between borders
The Pan Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Reconciliation Agreement between Canadian provinces and territories makes it easier for employers and workers to work between jurisdictions. The objective of the agreement is to harmonize regulatory requirements across Canadian jurisdictions through the adoption of common Occupational Health and Safety standards.
For example, a worker in northern British Columbia could use the same first aid kit and hearing protection for work they do in the Yukon, as long as it meets the agreed upon Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard.
To date, two amendments to the Pan Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Reconciliation Agreement have been signed, expanding the number of adopted standards.
Work is underway and ongoing to include standards for other regulatory requirements.
