Safety Build contest winners
Congratulations to the winners of our second annual Safety Build contest!
The contest gives students in grades 1 to 7 the opportunity to explore safety concepts in their lives by building models using LEGO® bricks.
We received almost 100 entries this year from students in Whitehorse and in several communities.
Students built models and told real-life stories about what they do at school, at home, outdoors and when playing sports to keep healthy and safe.
The winning builds showed creativity and ingenuity, and included lots of details to identify hazards and describe safe choices.
This year we added an Honourable Mention prize to acknowledge a highly creative build that was ineligible for a main prize because it did not explicitly identify the safety hazards in the scene.
All four winners won LEGO® kits with safety themes.
Participating teachers were entered into our teacher draw. The winning teacher won a classroom LEGO® set.
Congratulations to teacher Robyn Murphy of Elijah Smith Elementary School!
Thanks to all who took part, and make sure you try again next year!
