General Information
The Yukon Government’s Management Board Directives are policies that apply to all Yukon Government departments and deal with matters such as travel, office space, contracts, accounting policies, budgeting, and the establishment of staff positions.
In the past, the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board (YWCHSB) was subject to the Yukon Government’s Management Board Directives. However, during the development of the Workers' Compensation Act S.Y. 1992 (the "Act"), it became clear that the public desired greater independence of the YWCHSB from the Yukon Government. Although the YWCHSB did have an arm’s-length relationship with the government, the fact that it continued to be subject to Management Board Directives was identified as a cause for concern.
As a result, the Act was changed so that the Yukon Government’s Management Board Directives no longer applied to the YWCHSB, unless Cabinet directed otherwise. To date, Cabinet has not directed that any of the Yukon Government’s Management Board Directives apply to the YWCHSB.
Purpose
This policy clarifies how the YWCHSB will make use of the Yukon Government’s Management Board Directives.
