Workplace Solutions 2025

Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board presents: “Safety Culture – What YOU Can Do”

Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) is pleased to invite stakeholders, employers, supervisors and workers to attend our annual Workplace Solutions event on October 22 and 23, 2025.

The theme is "Safety Culture – What YOU Can Do,” and this year we’re hosting speaker Curtis Weber, a worker who survived a near-fatal injury at the age of 17. His story of resilience will help employers and workers understand the importance of hazard assessments, trusting your instincts and the impact of a workplace incident on a community.

In addition, there will be training opportunities, facilitated by Northern Safety Network Yukon (NSNY). Topics include: Workplace Investigation Basics and Hazard Assessment and Control.
There is no charge to attend the event or training sessions. Seating is limited, and participants are asked to register on our website.

During his visit, Curtis will also visit high schools in Whitehorse to share his message with youth who are new to the workplace or are on the verge of employment. One of the school presentations in Whitehorse will be streamed live to communities to reach as many Yukon youth as possible.

Quotes

“At Workplace Solutions, I’ll speak about how employers have a great opportunity to empower workers, especially young workers, to speak up. I’ll also speak to the parents in the room, to instill the value into our children that if you don’t feel right, it’s probably not right."
– Curtis Weber, motivational speaker

“Workplace Solutions is an opportunity for employers and workers to come together and be reminded that while safety culture starts with individual actions, its true strength lies in the power of many. Building a strong safety culture across the Yukon is a shared responsibility, and together, we can make a lasting impact.”
– WSCB acting President/CEO Catherine Jones
