2015 Elementary School Poster Contest Winners
Susie the Safety Squirrel (K-2) and Stop, think, do! (3-5) poster contests
The Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board (YWCHSB) believes that positive attitudes towards health and safety can best be developed by beginning at a young age and reinforced through daily activities and teaching.
So we set up a contest to encourage students and teachers to demonstrate health and safety practices.
This contest was open to all Yukon grade K-2 students and grade 3-5 students taking part in a YWCHSB pilot project.
Students made posters to share what they learned and show how they keep safe at home, at school or outdoors.
The contest challenged students to show which hazards they need to look out for and the safe choices they make to protect themselves in that setting.
Winners were chosen based on how well they showed safe choices and safety gear, as well as the hazards to keep safe from. Neat drawing and good colouring counted too. One Yukon student in each of grades K-5 won a new bike helmet!
Thank you for all the entries, it is great to see kids learning to be safe and having fun.
Here are the winning entries for each grade.
